About Solomon Burke
Once a preacher in Philadelphia, Solomon Burke later hosted a gospel show on the radio before himself turning to a singing career. His music also changed direction, as Solomon Burke moved toward soul and country music, more secular than his original style. A country song cover was his first hit (Just Out Of Reach Of My Open Arms) and later, more dance and R&B songs followed, such as Cry to Me, which appeared in the film Dirty Dancing.
